Although we're still waiting for studio clearance to post our work from Elysium, for some reason this image was cleared early. So here it is! One of the 'graphic novel' images I produced for the pitch document Neill used to secure funding for the film. My favourite image too, it was pretty fun to be paid to create something the likes of which filled the margins of my maths books when I was a kid in school! My apologies to anyone who is offended by this sort of imagery, my Mum wasn't a fan of the drawings like this I did as a kid either!

  1. I have the art book, lol. How are you guys still waiting for clearance? Either way, I look forward to seeing all of the work you contributed to this film. Really love your approach to this stuff. I hope both you and Christian Pearce were able to contribute to Chappie as well.

  2. Also got the artbook, great stuff it is too although the "clearance thing" is a bit confusing...the book has some bioroid soldier designs that have been up on this blog for a very long time. Granted these were unused in the film but still...

Cool image here by the way, looks like a pre Matt Damon protagonist and a somewhat more crude solution to the "e-brain issue" than the one in the movie...

  3. I love this image. One of my fav's that I saw of yours from way back. I dug the movie, saw it again last night. This actually came up, and I mentioned how the movie was a bit more brutal early on. Of course, I was really thinking of this piece! Awesome work, man.

  4. Nope, not in the art book. There's loads of design that isn't in there that I'm hoping to show soon...

  5. Aaron, it seems you head a mindblowing hardcore ideas for this movie. I adore District 9, but I was very disappointed with Elysium. Why it happened? Producers...?
I regret that your pacification droids were not approved for the movie...

  6. Going off some of Ben Mauro's own work, is this supposed to be Kruger getting shot?
