Prototyper

I wanted to design a prototype railgun, something beyond what a human could wield, a work-in-progress test weapon that would never end up on a battle field but looks all the cooler for it. The rest of the image was informed by that decision, with a sparse robotic test chassis and a high tech live-fire test bay. I made a rough 3d model to begin with and had fun painting the details. Here's a full res crop.  

This image can be found in the upcoming release of 'Nothing but Mech' Volume II.

    dudeee so sick! Love the colours and all the details, design.. perfect prototype look. I'm curious, what software are you using for your 3d base?
    That detail shot is mind boggling as well.. it has BMW logos on it hands? :)

    This is very cool weapon design! But that robot chassis is just a test bed for the weapon itself correct? I'm hoping you can come up with a dedicated combat robot design that will top your "Robot with laser" design you had a while ago.

    Hey Eliott, thanks for the feedback man, I love the same things about your work! I find that design based in (future) reality and form-following-function can facilitate work that is more interesting and unique than just the usual 'cool shapes'... Informed Imagination as I call it.
